Chemical and Moisture Defense
Even in an IP65 rated enclosure, condensation can form internally due to rapid temperature swings. In chemical plants or marine environments, corrosive gases can slowly degrade copper traces on a motherboard.
What is Conformal Coating?
It is a thin, protective polymeric film applied directly to the printed circuit board assembly (PCBA). It conforms to the contours of the board and its components.
- Acrylic (AR): Most common. Easy to apply and remove for rework. Good moisture resistance.
- Silicone (SR): Best for extreme high temperatures and flexibility (vibration).
- Polyurethane (UR): Excellent chemical and abrasion resistance, but very hard to rework.
