Powering Systems in Harsh Environments
Commercial PCs expect a clean, stable 120V/240V AC input or a precisely regulated 19V DC from an external brick. In mobile deployments (trucks, forklifts) or factory floors, power is notoriously dirty.
The 9V to 48V DC Input
True industrial computers accept a wide range of DC power directly. This allows them to run off 12V vehicle batteries, 24V factory rails, or 48V telecom arrays without external voltage regulators.
Ignition Power Control (IGN)
For in-vehicle computing, the PC must boot when the ignition turns on, and cleanly shut down (with a delay) when the engine turns off, rather than losing power abruptly and corrupting the OS. This is handled by a dedicated ignition pin on the power terminal block.
